A remote coastal hideaway defined by dramatic rock
formations, clear shallow waters, and an air of legend—ideal
for adventurers seeking an off-the-beaten-path seaside escape.
Listis Beach lies about 69 km southeast of Heraklion, nestled between the villages of Kastrí and Tsoutsoura on Crete’s southern coast. Accessible via a steep footpath descending from the coastal road, the beach remains unorganized yet attracts visitors drawn by its natural beauty. Its shoreline combines sand and small pebbles, while the seabed is generally sandy and perfect for swimming. Legend holds that a notorious robber once made his lair in the caves carved into the towering “Robber’s Rock” above the shore; traces of an ancient shrine have even been found atop the cliff. Swimming eastward past the main rock leads to a tiny cove at Xirokámpo, where a freshwater spring seeps from the cliffs.
